| Happy Birthday BeanerI have been missing in action recently. You would think that with summer here I would have so much extra time since I'm not teaching school. In fact, it has been quite the opposite. There are so many things that I have saved to get done during the summer. Plus the kids and I have been going to the pool a couple times a week. The blog has just been neglected.
I had to pop in to post that my littlest one is now three years old! She is having her little birthday party with grandparents this evening so I'll have to add some pictures later.
| A Bathtime QuoteI have some containers of water, my toy kitty, and a little bit of self control - Lizzie | | |
| Summer - and the living is easy?We are not the homeschoolers who school all year long. We LOVE our summer vacation. I NEED that summer vacation. There are a few things that need to be finished up before next year but for the most part we are officially on summer break. This is the first week of our break so I decided we should put away all the books and just do nothing this whole week. Here is how "nothing" looked yesterday... 7:30 I had an orthodontist appointment. The unthinkable happened. He took my braces off. I knew it was a possibility but he was also thinking about just repositioning brackets. I stopped at Target on the way home. There was an item that was on sale that would make a good Christmas present and I wanted to buy floss. I came home showed the kids my teeth, fed them, dressed the little ones, and did some house cleaning stuff. I folded 5 loads of laundry and washed some more. Then I made lunch. I took a quick walk with Jeremy after we ate. We put Abbie down for a nap. Kristen and David ran a few errands with me. At the first stop I was paying with cash and I had it in my pocket. When we got to the gas station I realized I had left my wallet on the table so we went home to get it. Then we picked up the dry cleaning, got the gas, stopped at the shoe store for Kristen to try on sandals, and went to the pet store to buy crickets for Dracko. When we got back we found that Abbie had already woken up. Everyone put on a swimsuit and we all headed off to the pool. It was not warm. The kids had a great time but I thought it was much too cool. When we got home it was time to make supper. After we cleaned that up the whole family went to the library to get the kids signed up for the summer reading program. Then the kids watched Lion King 1 1/2 while I talked to my mom.
If our summer keeps on like this, I'll be ready to teach some math lessons!
Today's plan includes taking Fiona to the vet, piano and guitar lessons, taking Kristen back to the shoe store to buy the shoes that I needed to talk to her dad about before I purchased, and a Wal-Mart run for Coke Zero and cat food. Oh yeah, lots more laundry and helping David get his room put back together now that the painting is finished in there are also on the list.

| overheardMy little ones entertain each other while my big ones do school. Sometimes this is good, other times it isn't.
This morning Elizabeth asked, "Can we let Fiona in the house?" (Fiona is our dog) Abbie chimed in with, "Yeah, Pweese we let Ona in the house?" I gave permission and they scrambled to the back door to get the pup. Next I heard, "Hi Ona." and "What a good puppy." Then Elizabeth said, "Hey, Let's put her in a box!" Abbie agreed to the plan. I had to put a stop to their fun. It seems like I remember a story about their grandfather, their great aunt, a bag, and a bunch of cats...
| AbbieMan, is she a turkey. Hard to believe she'll be three next month.
